In the middle of this, the real threat of AI was mentioned. Most of the highest levels of tech are being developed with military applications first, then benefits to society as basically “runoff”. The U.S. could make containing AI and being safe and responsible developing it…but they won’t because they’ll run under the assumption that Iran, Russia, China, terror groups, etc. won’t. This ends in no other route but long-term disaster.
