There's no such thing as "AI art" to begin with. "Art" comes from the Latin word for "artisanship" or "craft". It's a form of emotional expression through some form of craft. Therefore, by definition, anything that isn't crafted by a person cannot be considered art (though not all that is crafted is art either, because of the "emotional expression" part). As you pointed out, there is no craftiness or expression in AI. All it does is blindly transform some data through a mathematical/procedural process. And all the prompter does is tell a machine to spit out some kind of media that fits the given criteria. You could conceivably take some AI imagery, and craft something with it that could perhaps be considered art (though arguably somewhat fake), but AI imagery on its own cannot be considered art. I keep hammering on this whenever I see people calling it "AI art", because I think this is the most fundamental thing people should be aware of, but most people don't seem to be. I wish people would stop calling it "AI art". It doesn't exist. There's only "AI imagery" or "AI media", etc. Also, AI is only a tool that has to be wielded by a worker, so it cannot replace workers, it can only change the type of workers that are needed. People neglect to see this. And the ability of the AI to give you what you want decreases as the complexity of your requirements increase. It's easy to generate random stuff that looks good, or something small that still fits your vision, but if you ask more from the AI, it will deviate from your vision. For something non-trivial you're better off asking a human to do it for you.
