Guarantee they're training, tweaking their ai with new/raw content. Agreed, unacceptable.Your theories about optimizing storage etc would be how they figure they can get away with it. Or maybe just an umbrella about content ownership or distribution allows them to do basically whatever. Likely less nefarious than tone deaf on their part.. engineers getting overzealous. It is crossing a line though.
