I admit it can be confusing to understand Godels Theorem while listening to someone trying to explain it… so I feel sorry for the interviewer if he was caught by surprise listening to this. hmm but I think in the end the point is that we learn things from our conscious experience, rather than proving them by rules, that is certainly the case in geometry : for instance we use the radius of the circle to draw an internal hexagon, etc. you can then ask yourself why this is , and you might try to prove such a truth from more basic rules, even it’s tedious to do so… And I guess people very good in physics and are more aware and surf between more complicated truths, where others have to rely on computation to see connections … A computer only follows rules, computation, computing probabilities etc. and can just mimic and deceive people it understands, because using computable things alone it started to behave in the way we’d like… But not sure what experts in AI would say … behind this experience is of course an action followed by a pattern matching process which is computational process in the brain I suppose, and it’s difficult to say if there is something more to it that makes it a “conscious” process compared to robotics equipped with sensors, that gains experience and discovers patterns like this. So i think it remains a bit unsettled…
