I'm anti-gen ai because I still don't see a use case for it as advertised. Image recognition is wonderful technology with many uses (you may have heard of it being used to detect cancer from xrays), but all it's being presented to businesses and creatives is novelties. What use do I have for a gen ai photo of a lion? What vaccuum do you have to live in that that is a valuable resource vs looking up one of millions of photos of lions? Even for obscure stuff, I don't see how an LLM halluciating something I want to reference will help me because it's bound to mess something up. Even if gen ai was perfect, then all its doing is replicating the solution to a problem that is already solved. What does gen ai as it is advertised to most people (image/text generation) actually offer that's new or more efficient? It seems like its a solution looking for a problem.
