Geoffrey Hinton is undoubtedly one of the great minds of our time, grounded in materialism and logic. But what so often seems to be missing from even the most brilliant minds is an awareness of what we might call the Universal Mind, Source, Spirit, God, Allah, Buddha… your choice. This energy governs all things. Leaving this energy out of the equation may be the greatest mistake of all. I believe AI is here to help evolve what’s ultimately in question... the consciousness of this planet. As to the question Jeffrey was asked at the end of the podcast, maybe 'purpose' needs to be redefined.
