In my country (Poland) it's not unusual that you have to wait for a year or two to see a specialist or to have a surgery (within the public healthcare system).
The supply of doctors is finite.
And with most societies aging, the problem will only get exacerbated.
The richest countries can mitigate it by creating "brain drain", attracting specialists from all over the world with higher salaries.
Most of the world is NOT among the richest countries.
I anticipate that over the course of 60 or 80 years human doctors will become a luxury of sorts, like personal trainers.
Most of the population will get fully automated treatment plans overseen by some "supervisor" with a degree in "AI medical treatment supervision" (meaning they won't even be doctors).
But my point is that as bad as it sounds, it's not necesarily worse than the alternative.
