This conversation is such a tired and mute point: you don't need lidar and you don't need radar. Every single car on the planet right now is driven by vision and vision alone and at night when it's rainy and dark and people's vision can be absolutely terrible, but that is how we have driven for the past hundred years. The sensors don't matter as much of the software behind it. If the software can learn to drive with vision and the software is better than the average human, then they will have succeeded. It's a mistake to think that you need all these sensors. Lidar and radar cannot distinguish between objects. The software does that. So if you're going to rely on AI software to distinguish between images regardless of where they come from and visions the cheapest one then just focus on vision.
