New implies "Thesis". AI can never do thesis. Thesis is strictly within the human realm and will always remain there. Self-improvement requires creation, IE, thesis. AI is and will remain a tool which greatly aids human intelligence in working to result what starts at thesis. AI will remain a subset of human derived knowledge. So no super-intelligence as is regarded in vaguely defined ideas like AGI.
