Why anyone questions this is insane. The oligarchs have proven their motives and character. Money and more importantly power is the only thing they care about. Think about the biggest expense to a company. many of us have been told it our entire adult lives, It's employees. Capitalism doesn't care about circumstances or what struggles you're going through, only profits. We can conclude that if a company has the option to replace a job with a robot and cut a human employee's job, they 100% will if it saves them money and like I stated earlier, the biggest cost to companies is their employees. Some may counter and say, how will anyone buy anything then, how will they make money, wont people revolt? I then ask, have you seen the military ai that is being developed, have you seen the surveillance systems that are being deployed? Will the oligarchs actually need large quantities of other people if "entry level jobs" can be done by robots? Money is technically a representation of work someone puts into an economy. When robots can do most of the "menial" work for the oligarchs, as well as provide entertainment and luxury services, they don't need your money. Soon enough movies can be made entirely from AI and will pass the Turing test. What if someone designs an AI specifically to create movies? Don't need directors or actors anymore. The oligarchs can just watch an ai movie, that was created and "thought of" by ai. Now apply that to anything created by humans for entertainment. (LOOK AT TILLY) People who aren't on the bottom of the totem pole won't come to save you either. Anyone who isn't immediately cut from working due to ai will be thankful that they still have a job, especially if most people can't afford basic necessities. People with minimal skills will be metaphorically siloed from participating in society, and when there's a large homeless population in an ai world, it scares me very deeply what "solutions" might be conjured. capitalism has some great ideas, but our nation seriously needs social, political and economic reforms. I don't understand why we can't apply the ideas of capitalism, socialism, communism, into a new ism. It's obvious a developed society needs to have basic needs serviced to continue to thrive. Healthcare and education should 100% be social services in a rich and developed nation. it's the backbone of your fucking nation; you need healthy and educated people. I think capitalism is great for consumer markets though. Competition forces people to innovate and push harder to create a build new idea. I just don't get why we can't move away from black and white thinking. It's absurd... almost as much as this YT rant comment, my b. I just can see so much good in our futures, but it's being stifled by primitive group think/culture war bullshit, it's maddening. I also feel fucking insane all the time for having these viewpoints, but history has shown what people with consolidated power do, and the current power players have shown they only care about themselves.
