The other dumb thing about tesla is that they have opted to go with the cameras doing all of the self driving work.
Other car companies use a sensor system plus the cameras. That way there is a backup in case the sensors or cameras get a false or poor reading of their environment.
It seems pretty dumb to me that we couldn’t come up with a law requiring cars to have both rather than being able to choose just one.
Teslas system is known for being particularly unreliable at night or around sunrise or sunset because that’s when the lack of light or the sun being around the horizon line can mess with the reliability of the camera readings.
