What's funny for me is I use to defend AI art as "just another medium" and proclaimed it was "no different" than an artist using other work for inspiration. What I said was so far removed from the truth. What I can't deny is that AI artists are genuinely lazy and will churn out countless "polished" turds, just so they can call themselves "artists". Imagine having someone spellcheck your essay, fixing a few words/sentences, and then having them claim that your essay is now theirs. That's what these AI artists act like. Only that none of them got permission for even that. They're more like the kid who looked over the smart kids shoulder during a test so they too could get the right answers. They put quarters into a vending machine and then will tell you they're a chef. They will save an art piece off of Google images, slap a water mark on it, and tell you it's theirs. All I had to do to see this was exist in the biggest AI art communities online. Holy hell are they ever lazy. They're even proud of it. I just had one dude say it was "harder than photography" and claim that photographers were "thieves" for "stealing from the real world". What's crazier is these people make tons of money through AI art in hopes of fooling people who don't realize what it is. They're not just simply using it as a tool for inspiration. They will plug a few words into a program, pump out an image in 30 seconds, and will look an artist in the face and tell them they are better. Worst part? They fully believe they are.
