n-no. Tyson is talking out of his arse on this one. AI as we speak of it today requires immense amounts of data and computational power to plausibly feign, echo, in fact, the innate abilities of a random teenager. It's all just guided random functions that take inputs and output unpredictable, at best novel, outputs that rely entirely on stolen data that's been used to generate templates. pound for pound, a proficient plagiarist can out do an AI user. The only limitations "AI" gets to break are legal and moral limitations. It's not even generative, it's regenerative. To call it artificial intelligence is mildly insulting to the word intelligence. Comparing unintelligent systems like pedestrian auto-break sensors intelligence is like calling a mousetrap an angry sapient being because it snaps when touched. An engineer has put a failsafe into a vehicle, that often activates when it's not supposed to but because it mechanically will.
CHESS is a largely solved game. Strategy and adaptability, the foresight to imagine your opponents next 10 moves is rendered entirely void in the face of probabilities that can be calculated and moves selected for based off, the only thing a computer can do IS calculations. The entire exercise is rendered moot because it's like signing up for a lifting competition and you bring a forklift. Of course a forklift will win a strongman competition, provided it has a driver. Famously, automated forklifts are worse than the average forklift certified human, because obviously something that can only make calculations can't even begin to compare to a full sensory suite down to temp, vibration and sound detection, connected to an autonomous, mobile, lightweight, sugar water powered machine that can casually calculate ballistic trajectory and adjust in real time.
Pick up the pencil.
Additionally, unemployment is a terrible metric for the well being of a society. a low unemployment could mean a totalitarian state where child labor and slavery are commonplace and a high unemployment could mean an absurd abundance where most citizens are self sufficient off native flora and communal projects, hell, Europe has people who work to save up and quit for months if not years as they live off their savings.
AI cannot help with medicine either because it cannot predict the effects of medicine, the human body is just too complex, that's why most medicines are derived from observations of the human body and applied chemistry. Protein folding is a pointless thing to sick AI on because you could get trillions of different proteins where a billionth of them do anything and you still wouldn't know until you test it out in a lab or in trials. At most you can get a checklist out of it, but it won't actually improve the speed at which we get useful data out of it. AI's ability to detect cancers and such from MRIs is wildly overblown, with the results having to be checked by medical professionals anyway and false positives are wildly prevalent with an absurdly high amount of cancers passing undetected. Complete waste of time aside from proving that AI is only as good as a guess at best or a cursory ctrl+F search.
All AI is doing is making you dumber by denying your brain effort and exercise. STOP.
