Why are we assuming that someone has to get sued?
Is it the car manufacturer's fault that shit happens that cannot in any way shape or form be predicted and countered by current technology? Self driving cars are already much safer than human-controlled ones, and will only get better, so the very notion of going after the people producing this technology is fucking stupid. There should be a law in place making it impossible to sue anyone, unless there's evidence that the company has tried to cut corners and produced a vehicle whose safety isn't up to snuff.
