These points might be viable only in middle ground between fully automatic travel and today, but in world of self driving cars they should be connected to the road and each other and act together therefore AVOIDING falling objects and changing the course/speed of other vehicles on the side ( ex. fast acceleration of motorbike might allow it to bolt and dodge incoming car = no causalities). BTW are Americans allowed to not wear a helmet? In closer future the "driver" or rather passenger of automatic car should be the first victim not others.
