Personally I think that replacing the workforce with robots is an important part of the process in transitioning into a post-scarcity economy along with nanomachine-based molecular assemblers. Also I believe that if we ever create sentient robots we should treat them with the same respect that we do fellow human beings as we are all just robots made of proteins and amino acids (well to be more accurate we are more like self-aware protein-based nanomachine swarms but that's besides the point). I also dare to imagine that if and when humanity goes extinct (or ascends to a higher plane of existence through technology), robots will remain to be our living monuments. They will be the eternal proof that we humans existed, kind of like the Dwemer automatons in the Elder Scrolls games.
