You referenced the invention of the atomic bomb as a "terrible atrocity", but many forget or are uninformed that the true purpose of the design and creation was for protection, good and to uphold peace. However the "terrible atrocity" was how it was used after it was designed, a weapon of mass destruction. So we shouldn't point our fingers at the tools that were used, but the users. AI, being ethical or not, is dependent solely on how it is used and who we give permission to use it.
