very very good video. as artificial intelligence improves, i have sought to learn more about it, and this is a question i have had for a long time but was very lost on how to even begin. the point that "rights" are grounded in inherently human suffering was really thought provoking. makes me wonder what just pure consciousness without all the human biases and tendencies formed through evolution. and lots of other stuff. i have always been of the less anthrocentric opinion that once ai reaches any sort of consciousness it's not in our jurisdiction as humans to decide whether we give it rights, as if we have the all powerful authority to declare which beings get rights. which, as you pointed out, we have done for a long time. there's a lot to deconstruct about human nature and ideologies before we can really think of other beings. and of course, there's a lot of human problems to solve, and human rights to give as well.
