I think the real fear and debate is, "what if a generation of robots could displace humans as an apex species?"
Rights aren't really given to anyone. Sure, the group that domintes all and asserted their rights may agree to distribute these rights. In truth aren't we really showing our fear of being usurped from our peaked pinnacle position when it comes to the AI philosophical debate?
