This "report by the White House" proves just once more how disconnected these guys are from the real world. The whole transport and logistic business is of course much more than driving a vehicle from point A to B. Jimmy already mentioned enough aspects that make it necessairy to have a person on board a transport device. The simple fact that truckdrivers are paid halfway decent should be a hint. Certainly companies don't do that because they love their drivers so much. And please dont say it is the unions, Jimmy Hoffa is long dead. Besides driving and loading they also do maintenance of their trucks, they guard the freight and they take care if a problem occurs.
The idea of getting inside an empty driverless car, as a taxi passenger, is spooky to say the least. Or imagine you buy a selfdriving Italian sportscar, where you no longer sit behind the steering wheel, as the man that is in charge, the commander over 500 PS, but instead you passively sit on the backseat with your hands folded, nothing but dead weight, that wont impress the girls, I can guarantee that.
