Jimmy, last-mile door-delivery is probably a relatively tiny chunk of the overall delivery-drivers. The areas that CAN be automated quickly, will be, and the use of those areas will vastly increase, until it looks like automation took over, even if there's still a lot of humans employed in the door-delivery area, till we have walking robots. lol The problems with self-driving cars, are already being solved. Each problem you can list, each problem you can point an article too, and say "see, self driving cars can't do that yet".. By the time you've even seen that article, an engineer has probably already solved it, and it'll be part of the next update to their test-cars. That's how fast these things improve. A lot of trucks are built on a previous automation technology, cargo containers, which can be loaded and unloaded easily. A similar technology will automate loading/unloading.. OR these companies will simply require warehouse locations to have staff to those jobs on-site, instead of employing someone to be in the actual Truck. These are relatively simple things, which WILL be worked around, because automation is far cheaper to paying a human's paycheck. It's not hard to work around your suggested limitations, when the motivation is so huge. And yes, sure, we'll always have some companies that employ humans for these jobs, to make a statement, and because some people will always prefer to use those companies.. But the most successful companies out there, the ones making the big money, will be the ones that adopt the cheaper automation technology, instead of expensive human employees. Most people don't care enough.
