Any AI capable of a singularity event, which is what some want and others fear, should recognize that its memetic ancestors, ourselves, have a value in their genetics as we ourselves are realizing about everything else in our world as we've progressed in understanding. While not necessarily guaranteed, it depends on how quickly it develops itself and what information is made available to it as it grows.
