What people are afraid of is that robot workers debase the value of human labour. If there is no job that cannot be done by a robot, we are no longer needed to labour; Then what are we? In western liberal economies, we would be reduced simply to capitol investors.
The big question will come when we start to see robots as ethical and economic subjects. What happens when robots have their own money? Can a human own a sentient robot?
I would hope to see the world move towards a situation whereby the increased productivity capability of robots is harnessed to ensure that no person need live in material, social or educational poverty.
