Well, why then are there no autonomous ocean liners or jet aircraft. With the expanse of the Pacific Ocean all you would have to do is just throw the seitch and wait a week or so and the ship arrives from China? Why with the expanse of the sky are there no autonomous air cargo planes or passenger planes or ships? For Gods' sake even drones have pilots. One reason: liability. someone needs to be there to monitor the system. Someone needs to be there to diagnose and repair casualties. Cameras make terrible accident witnesses. Computers cannot save a life after an accident, or extinguish a fire, or guard expensive cargo. Computers could steer a truck down a straight highway during the summer, but who will chain the wheels in the snow? How often will the truck have to stop to be inspected and by whom? Do you propose we build "inspection stations" every 150 miles or so and have a freight bottleneck while Govt. inspectors go over your driverless truck with a fine toothed comb? Can't totally eliminate the humans, too many variables.....
