I have two years of emergency money saved because I got really scared by AI in late 2023 early 2024. I stopped housesearching (was planning to dump most of it into a down payment) and instead just put all my money in the stock market and an HYSA and stayed living with family. It was a good decision in hindsight but also a little ridiculous and kind of sad. I think I probably could have been slightly more aggressive or lived more, but yeah, my coworker got laid off in August and he still doesn't have a job. It's mixed feelings.
