"To a hammer everything is a nail" we and ai base our assumtions most the time on availible perceptions. Change the perception, change the reasoning.
When it retreives the right data it reasons on the right data creating clean outputs.
But just like us, a lack of understanding begets a lack of understanding, visa versa. Confabulation/hallucination can breakdown at the generation level, but with out proper retrieval, it will also have the potential to occur.
