It's more likely companies will change direction to sell to wealthy people instead. Incentive structures are broken. I'm not a "capitalist" or "socialist" because in the country I grew up in that's not even a thing people are lol people just exist in the economy, but, due to the capitalist structure we have set up, CEOs are desperate to show growth from quarter to quarter. That's their only job - pleasing shareholders. Meaning none of this longtermism bs matters WE JUST NEEED TO SHOW WE MADE MORE MONEY IN THE LAST THREE MONTHS THATN THE THREE BEFORE QUICK DESPERATE PLEASE. What'll probably end up happening is the pivot we've seen in Allbirds. Companies just transition to selling whatever they need to to survive. Eventually we may see places like Walmart transitino to luxury cars or watches and not sell food at all because the poors can't afford to eat. This is an existential crisis and people aren't seeing AI companies for the threat they are. (Unless you're a recruiter in that case I'm super pro AI :))
