And considering each of these companies can simply choose to delete your account and deny access is especially horrifying, now that all of these companies are also moving onto AI-only checks. My Facebook account (with my real name) recently got permanently disabled 2 minutes after it was suspended with no reason why. Cannot appeal. Everything gone. With Facebook's resources they can easily link any new account I make and disable it - after all I will still talk to the same people and follow the same things. Imagine if that identity gets shared to other services. All of a sudden you can't use any other service linked to that identity. Become a victim of identity theft? Goodbye every account you've ever made and will ever make. No Discord, no Reddit, no Steam, nothing. With how easy these companies are requiring your digital fingerprint nowadays they can effectively block you. Of course it hasn't gotten there yet, but the industry is moving in that direction where "safety over privacy", but "safety" is on their own, nebulous terms.
