Not unless doing so aligns with the goals of those in charge of large language models. id est, profit. For themselves, their boards and largest shareholders.
Additionally, unless the environmental effects also become negligible instead of compounding it is functionally irrelevant. Lower environmental effects would also mean it is more accessible to the working class and poor. This would reduce corporate profits.
