I’m a proponent of AI while also fully recognizing that it has sustainability and regulatory issues we need to figure out. There are people working on the sustainable side of the house but I wish I was seeing more regulations forming. Time will tell.
For now, the tools we have available are in my opinion extremely useful for the average person. Remember that the quality of the input determines the output; just using ChatGPT as a therapist or asking it to do hard things is useless. You need to select the right tool and model for the task, always, so people need to start there.
As an example, someone who wants to start a small business can use Claude to generate a website and all of their marketing materials/copy/ICP research, now. And they can use Google Flow for videos promoting their product. I used Claude to design and launch a website recently and it blew my mind.
Another example, someone with a disability can use any of these tools to create things and launch a website, make short films, conduct research, you name it.
It’s handy for data analysis, so an average person can feed it their financial info (nothing sensitive of course) and it can provide insights about spending habits, goal tracking, budgeting, etc.
I even used it to apartment hunt, recently! I had AI do some research for me that compiled googled reviews, reddit posts and comments, and other elements and it ranked my options for me based on a variety of factors. I used ChatGPT and copilot for this and combined the results, then I used Google Flow to help me figure out where to place all of my furniture (fed it measurements and it placed everything to scale).
I see other comments about the research and scientific side of things — undeniably the best use case for AI, right there. If we can regulate it and find a good sustainable way to use it then AI can cure new diseases and help us develop new technologies.
