this is what people miss in the AI-will-replace-jobs debate. the tools raise the floor, not the ceiling. someone with no real understanding can produce output faster than before, but they also create messes at larger scale and with more confidence in their wrongness. your vibe coder story plays out everywhere -- confident incompetence just moves faster when the tools are more powerful. the people who actually understand the systems become more valuable, not less, because someone has to untangle what went wrong
