My guess is either: A) Interview incentivizes bullshitting and lying (e.g., no verification of certificates and prior experience). B) Interview is convoluted and can be easily gamed (i.e., experienced devs who value their time decline to waste it whereas desperate inesperienced devs cheat with AI). C) Interview process was mainly done by recruiters and noone with actual subject matter got to weigh in. D) Company was simply unlucky and got a guy who was just really good at cheating and hiding it up to now. Probably a mix of a little of all tbh.
