Safety is in quotes because models like Claude 3.7 were not nearly capable enough to pose any semblance of biological threats.
If it was up to people Ilya Sutskever and Helen Toner, even models like GPT-2 would have never been released to the public.
But this makes sense given that Anthropic was strongly influenced by the EA movement. Fortunately they are now trying to distance themselves from EA.
