Ya know, I installed my company's security approved version of OpenClaw last week and was loving using it for executive function work - the kind of stuff I'm bad at. I thought to myself, maybe I can get on board with this if I can get it to do all the stuff I don't like so I can focus on writing code and building systems. Then the word came down that we have 1 week to become "AI native" essentially meaning that we're expected to throw AI at every technical problem, and for the first time in 7 years I hated my job. I spent all day talking to Claude while it wrote new agents for a bug triaging system. I spent the whole day promoting a machine to make more prompts. There was no sense of accomplishment, no challenge, just having a conversation with very fancy auto complete to build things that I didn't write so only have a surface level understanding of. I used to love being a software engineer because it meant that I got to have fun at work. If this is what it's going to be moving forward, I guess I'll just be another corporate drone getting through the day so I can go home and do what I actually want to do
