Consumers are getting distillations of what they have internally. Not because they want to limit the public, but because they don’t have the inference power to serve tens of millions of people. All the models we are using are still on the size range of the original GPT4. The next generation is 10 times bigger and was released briefly without a thinking version (GPT4.5). We still don’t have reasoning models of that size for the public, but there is no technical reason why they shouldn’t have them internally.
