This has never been particularly compelling. I'm not boycotting companies that work with the military. I'm not anti-military contracting. I'm specifically objecting to a company that publicly declared solidarity with a competitor's position on Friday morning and then signed a deal to replace them on Friday night, hours after the administration made an example of them for holding that exact position. If Google had spent the morning saying "we stand with Boeing's safety concerns" and then signed a contract to replace them that evening, you wouldn't need to be opposed to all contracts to glimpse the hypocrisy. The issue isn't who has Pentagon contracts. It's OpenAI's specific conduct.
