As long as _someone_ has to labor to build housing, grow food, educate, provide healthcare: people that want those things will have to trade something to get those things from the people who are providing it. The other option is to do it themselves. AI might give some people vast amounts of tradable goods and services, but the folks without will have to do something of value.
