The thing is though: how many good alternatives exist there when most alternatives just fetch their results from either bing or google, or implement their own shady bs ai/advert model? Like, Google: pages of ads and AI generated pages, tracking, 'personalized' results. Bing: same thing but microsoft. Ecosia: google and bing with a green paintcoat and more third party data sharing on top. DuckDuckGo: bing but with less ads, a bit more privacy due to cleaning AMP/tracking links and sharing less info to third parties. Still affected by the slop virus though. Qwant: Questionable bussiness practices, Mostly bing, less ads(i think?), Still slop brained but at least not shoving it in our faces. Not as 'european' as they claim to be with most of their services depending on microslop. Also, close ties with Axel Springer(they are a pretty big shareholder), one of the more questionable boulebard 'news' media known for spreading missinformation and disinformation. Brave search: an actual search engine with their own index. (A rare sight) Most data collection is opt-in(for now). kinda shady corporation with their involvement in crypto and ai slop though. Also got the dumb ai weaved into the results for some reason. + a lot of these things aren't going to stay that way according to themselves and their plans on monetization. You could build your own if you got the know-how, I don't. 😅
