To be fair though, these issues (specifically relating to the creation and distribution of AI deep fake images) have been around for a long time, even before deep fake was a thing. Additionally, these sorts of situations have been a part of AI ethics discussions well before many current AI technologies were even in development. Legislating new laws often does occur after its need is determined (some event necessitating a law be passed) but there are certainly situations like this where common sense laws could be drafted that cover fundamental ethical considerations through cooperation with subject matter experts (in fields like AI, general ethics, HCI, etc).
