Tech usage does seem to be where Europe can do some real damage, if we don’t like the direction USA and its corporations are going in. We don’t need X and absolutely should not allow any platforms that permit AI that can produce indecent images of children, Grok deliberately prevents available safety rails. Ireland should take an extremely strong stance on this. Long term we need to develop our own tech in a way that makes it possible to cut USA out completely if necessary. At the moment this is pretty difficult at an individual or small business level. **Could we develop our own ethical, not for profit, AI alternative built on ethically sourced training data and careful alignment?** There have been attempts at this, but it’s very under resourced as it doesn’t benefit big business.
