What you are missing is that you've been economically irrelevant for a while now. Only about 10% of consumers are still relevant, and that number is decreasing. What happens next is you are a slave for entertainment, or you die, and it doesn't matter to them. You keep thinking "but someone will need to buy the products" no. Many companies already have completely shifted their business models to no longer need you. In the interim, the companies targetting you, won't give a shit about making decent products. Everything will be built to the lowest possible cost that technically keeps you barely alive, while priced at a point which technically keeps you barely alive. The goal is attrition, and they're winning at that. If their automation dreams come true, they won't only have cheap labour but a glut of desperate, vulnerable and powerless people. So like, its a comforting idea to think that somehow the economics would stop this, but at this point, considering the voting habits of the public, where they choose to chop off their own legs by voting to hurt other people in the same class as them every time things are rough and they for some reason choose conservatism, you're pretty much screwed. You're basically hoping that their plans don't pan out, or some force of nature takes out a billionaire party island. You know you won't fight or resist, and they know it, so this is the obvious conclusion.
