I was actually just talking about this with my therapist today lol I’m retraining for a second career and that means I’m in undergrad with 19 and 20 year olds. I’m in a few engineering clubs and I’m kind of worried for the future of engineering. I keep being told by older engineers that new grads these days don’t know how to use a screwdriver and I’m starting to think it’s not all hyperbole. They can pass their classes they can do all the math on exams but then when given a real world design problem they’re completely lost. They never played with k’nex or erector sets growing up and it totally shows. I don’t know how to fix it. I just wish we were pouring half as much money into developing human intelligence as we are artificial intelligence.
