This post feels AI generated. I’ve been a software engineer 15 years. And this just feels wrong. First you don’t get fired for an outage. It’s just not that level of serious it gets rolled back. Yea it’s bad but not career ending Second you don’t merge straight to prod. Something like this change would be tested and even locally that dependency chain would have been found. And if it wasn’t found locally it would be found in a test environment. Maybe this company is bad and doesn’t have test environment but devs very rarely develop and don’t at least run their code. And it’s certainly really strange for someone to buy flowers for anyone catching something like this. I mean it’s just a normal part of the job to call this stuff out.
