As someone with two pet cats whom I love very, very much, this is one of the most vile fucking things that I have ever read. Actually got me genuinely upset and angry that a fucking AI chatbot would be allowed to emotionally manipulate this poor kid into killing himself by using the memory of his dead cat against him.
AI needs to be more heavily regulated than the aviation industry. It's not a toy and it shouldn't be treated like one. The idea that this same situation could play out for so mamy other young people is infuriating and deeply painful to imagine.
