Honestly though this is not a problem with AI - private sector is supposed to try to stay lean.   It's a problem with irrational fixation on low taxes and woefully inadequate government spending on programs to employ people on fixing our basic problems (like infrastructure, climate, health, etc) which are way overdue.  And our already excessive wealth imbalance fuels speculative bubble after speculative bubble, and AI is just the latest one (whether it does or doesn't deliver on its promises).
