I read about the dot-com bubble, but I can see there are a lot of differences. For example, AI is used extensively in various domains compared to the Internet back then (translation, code generation, graphic design, healthcare). Its infrastructure already exists, whereas during the early Internet days most people didn’t have optical fiber. Monetization is also clearer in AI, as it is integrated into many products (Copilot, various additional subscriptions such as ChatGPT Plus, etc.), unlike the Internet era, when people bet that traffic would eventually be monetized. Moreover, today we have a few giants with vast funds driving development and capable of supporting investments, while back then those promises were made by various startups.
