It will really depend on the facts of the case but it's going to be very difficult to prove that this is ChatGPT 's fault or it somehow lead him to this. He most likely used it as a tool and went out of his way to get around the suicide safety measures and ignored any sort of help it offered or recommended. Unless the parents know something specific that ChatGPT did wrong this feels like a money grab after a very tragic event. I hope their motivation is to just bring attention to teen suicides which is a problem even in small numbers. I hope this young man rests in peace and that his family and friends find peace in some way at some point. This is a very tragic and difficult situation.
