Yea its really hard to believe AGI is in the “near future”.
The real present concern, atleast to me, are businesses rolling with what’s already existing to phase out workers (because of how much money has already been invested, kind of like a sunken cost fallacy). It can cause a major disruption in people’s lives while companies also deal with any potential fallout of trying to replace humans with ai. But regardless, there will be jobs that can easily be replaced by AI, not just AGI.
