We don't. At least not directly. As you said, LLMs and AGI are vastly different things. There's no clear path from LLM to AGi. It's not a matter of processing power or algorithm optimization. It will require completely new technologies we haven't even created yet.
It's like asking how we go from a bicycle to an interstellar spaceship.
I'm not naive enough to think we'll never get there. I'm sure we will. Probably even in our lifetimes. I just don't think people really appreciate how far away we currently are.
