I was addicted to World of Warcraft for two years because I was basically semi-suicidal so I know how it feels to rely on the internet for support but the problem is this: the internet presents these things that feel like solutions to being alone or depressed but they're more like parasites that intentionally prevent you from doing things that would actually help stop you from being lonely. You talk to a chatbot instead of like, going to a book club or church--- a place where they take everybody. I'm not trying to promote religion but church is basically an instant social life. I don't think kids these days are lazy, I just think many parts of the internet are feeding off your unhappiness. The solution to that to kill the parasites. That feeling that you need them is a lie. But that starts with the lonely person choosing to kill their parasites, not some vague wish that people get nicer.
